This game is still in development, and we are currently transitioning from prototype to working build, adding the Gameplay as each part is completed, NO Trailer will be available for a while, But you can get involved with test builds.
Planned Features
Space Corp Tycoon is a Realtime Text and Integer Based Space Business/Exploration Game, With Combat Elements and It has been designed to be played on the desktop while browsing or idling on the web, this should reflect in the final product.
In-Depth Analysis of the Mechanics and Gameplay Idea's
Game mechanics are handled mostly on the basis of investment in the corporation, as it is in real life, You can use your funds to build ships/buildings, send out probes or to colonize other worlds. (But with this we can mix in story elements and random events to make it a fun and surprising experience)
Combat is handled in a simple yet effective manner also, Ships are assigned values and each attack uses simple math to detract from fleet powers, First to lose fleet power loses the battle, It Will be more advanced eventually but for now it works as intended.
All but the earth will be affected by population/food mechanics, You will only be able to sustain a population that you can feed, if you cannot it will have consequences.
You will eventually reach a part of the game and gain access to new features like a secret space base with access to new ships and your own mining colony, you can even Start Building your very own planet eventually.
And then we also have the explore surface option or planets, from this we can search/scout locations and gain access to special resources, Or just have a closer look at your colony.

I'm going to go into as some detail to explain the features so you can get a good indication of what to expect from the game.

- The Corporation -
The player corporation is the hub of all of the gameplay, you will control and expand across the universe as the right hand of the corporation.
But just like real world corporation's corruption is present, and you're the corrupt individual as you decide that maybe you should have your own secret space base and siphon of funds into your rainy day fund.
Obviously you're going to rise to power and this means developing your own ships, which are far stronger than the corporation's, this gives the player the incentive to Invest within his/her own private kingdom.

- The Commander -
The Commander will be fully Upgradable, and this will influence gameplay by allowing you to augment your fleet with attack and defence modifiers.
This will be accomplished through skill points that can be assigned to different skill sets.

- The Economy -
The economy is very simple, it is based on integer values, and Allows for depth and customization further along in development.
The way it will work is, you can build various building's on each planet, some planet's have special building's, some do not but each building has a purpose, all building's will need to be staffed and Staffing is not just another layer, You will need to be able to supply enough food for the staff/population of a colony otherwise production will suffer.
Certain things can affect the economy of a planet, and I plan to add these effects further along.

- Combat -
Combat will be done in a slightly different way to what you would expect, In keeping with the text and integer style so the battles will be done via different attack options chosen on the battle screen.
Each attack has its own benefits and disadvantage's and will allow you to deal variation's of damage, while protecting your fleet or sending them to die for you.
Each ship will have an attack and defence value, and will tally up to a total score labelled as fleet power, the main goal is to get your enemy to lose his fleet power before you do.
I have an extra feature planned for the space battles which should add more depth.

- Missions/Contracts -
Missions and Contracts are an optional part of the game, that allows the player to participate in small storylines or space battles separate from the main storyline, You can collect the bounty on pirates and test your skills against an ever increasing array of enemies.
This will be one of the ways to level up your commander.

- Planetary exploration -
The plan is that each planet will have a map, And a set of ? Icons which can be scouted and searched.
You will be able to find unique missions, Special materials or a one of a kind locations that may be your best source of income.

- Troops and Ships -
The Corporation has its own soldiers and fleet designs which you can upgrade, But the ultimate goal is to find the materials in the galaxy which will allow you to build your own private fleet designs and train your own private army.

- Exploration -
Exploration will be carried out via a explore command, which will cost credits and a probe, That will then add data to your Location list from which you can then scout that planet.
You may then decide if you want to set up a colony at that location or run more tests, Some planets will have an anomaly and this will affect certain things, like production or hidden locations.
